PALM SPRINGS RETREAT
We had 10+ meters of fall (or slope) on the block of land #yikes but we have a pretty view out the back, so we used this to our advantage by keeping the design parallel with the contours and incorporating a 1.6m split to the design. Which simply means one level of the home sits 1.6m higher than the other. (Check out the stairs from week 1 reveals). We kept the roof line the same which helped us create these huge 4.3m ceilings. Apparently, it’s called being site responsive. In other words, we took a negative and turned it into a positive. #score
We had these 3m high windows installed to capture the beautiful views of the surrounding bush and allow loads of natural light into the south facing living areas. Although this is a massive open space, we still wanted it to feel homely the goal was to make it feel more like a retreat. #holidayathome
