The hands down number one question we get asked at Oak & Orange is … do you offer design services? It’s always such a huge compliment when we see this question slide into our inbox or DM’s. Both Sarah & I have three kids each and our lives are extremely busy. We decided early on in the piece that rather than make life more hectic by juggling multiple projects and clients all at once. We would stick with what we’re good at – designing and building brand new homes from scratch. But don’t worry we love sharing our design journeys from start to finish. That way you can learn from us along the way, hooray! It also means we can help more of you design beautiful, practical homes all at the one time.
BACK TO THE BEGINNING
Sarah and I met about 16 years ago when we were both dating our now husbands…both young chippy’s at the time. Fast forward another 5 years and our hubbies launched a project home building company, right in the midst of us starting our families. #calluscrazy
Long before we met, we both had a passion for Interior Design. Being married to builders has enabled us to take those dreams and turn them into reality. It’s chaotic amongst our full lives but we are so grateful that we get the opportunity to do what we love and share our knowledge and experience with each of you.
DREAM HOME 1
THE ROLLERCOASTER BEGINS
Since the very beginning, we have designed and built over 20 homes personally – single storey, double storey, terraces with granny flats, you name it we’ve tried it. We’ve even covered a multitude of styles from Hampton’s to Modern Resort, see ‘Our Homes’ on our website for the full scoop. Some of these homes we have built to sell, some to hold and some…. okay a lot we have lived in ourselves. At last count we have moved a combined total of 15 times in the past 12 years and yes, we have this packing and moving to a new house gig down pat. Maybe we need an episode on that! Can I see a raise of hands?
What makes our experiences so unique is that we have lived in many of the homes we have designed and built. This has given us great insight into what works practically in a home. From cabinetry and flooring that is easy to clean to what kitchen and bathrooms layouts work best and even what floor plans can maximize space, we cover it all.
