THE 'UNIVERSAL' GO-TO COLOUR COMBO FROM OAK & ORANGE
Just like the looks-good-on-everyone lipstick shade, we have a magical colour combination that works for any home style.
Plus, it’s trendless and timeless.
Whether your style is coastal or farmhouse, modern or Mediterranean, Palm Springs or country there are certain tones, colours and materials that will never go out of style.
Not only do they suit all of the above home styles, they can be integrated into your style of home to ensure your abode is still lookin’ good 10 years from now.
Look no further. They are:
WHITES
GREYS
NEUTRALS
AND TIMBER
Remember, you don’t need to play it safe or be boring!
The variety and combinations within this palette are practically endless.
We’ll show you how we incorporated these tones and materials to create our coastal luxe home.
WHITE
A BRIGHT, ‘BLANC’ CANVAS
We say, “When in doubt, paint it white” so many times, it should be tattooed onto us. In our coastal luxe build, we’ve chosen white very liberally. It’s the perfect base for the accent colours, and it completely opens up the space and lets dreamy natural light bounce around.
Spot this shade:
The windows, doors, internal walls are painted in Taubmans ‘Cotton Sheets’
Kitchen cabinetry is White Linen by Laminex.
Window furnishings sheers and roller blinds from Home Blinds Australia.
GREYS
MORE GLORIOUS THAN GLOOMY
Grey is a versatile tone we always come back to. There’s so many undertones and hues, we’re actually never bored of the ways we can play with the colour combos. In our own home we incorporate grey through our polished concrete floors, but for our coastal luxe home we had a little more fun.
SPOT THIS SHADE:
Our Marble look engineered Caesarstone bench top in London Grey.
Laminex bench top Carrara Bianco Natural Finish
Pot by Flower Power.
Driveway French grey.
Marble coffee and side table hired from our good friends at Huntley and Co.
NEUTRALS
THE ULTIMATE COLOUR CHAMELEON
We never shade neutrals here! What they lack in colour, they definitely make up for in versatility. It’s hard to mismatch a colour that ‘technically’ isn’t a colour!
Contrary to popular belief, a dreamy bedroom or a blissful bathroom isn’t achieved by going all-out-white (hello, clinical) – it’s achieved through the incorporation of soft neutrals that give that calm, serene and easy-on-the-eyes vibe.
SPOT THIS SHADE:
Bathroom floor and wall tiles from Color Tile
Carpet colour. Kensington 230 Amulet Stipple Godfrey Hirst
Rugs.
Bedroom linen.
TIMBER
BEAUTIFUL, BY NATURE
In a modern world filled with technology and digitised living, isn’t it wonderful to feel organic textures under your feet?!
Timber is timeless (and we’ve seen our fair share of restoration videos to attest to this), and in our coastal luxe home, is the natural element that ties the whole colour palette together. There’s so many wood tones and textures to choose from – you can’t go wrong.
Spot this shade:
Godfrey Hirst vinyl flooring Laminate classic oak.
Bathroom cabinetry.
Timber bench on the porch.
Timber Dining table from Lounge Lovers.
Timber bar stools from Life Interiors.
Along with loads of styling items through the home.
